Annual or perennial. Prefers full sun to partial shade and fast-draining soil. Sow seed barely under the surface, tamp well, keep warm and light, water sparingly. Seed often germinates in dry soil a few days after watering. Slow, spotty germination is common. Transplant to 2 feet apart.

It differs from other Datura species in that the veins that arise from the midrib of the leaf, anastomose at the leaf edge. Other Datura have no such anastomoses (HFO)
