Hybrid parents = C. buddleioides × C. cotoneaster

The following notes refer to the related species C. buddleioides and its use in traditional Maori medicine. It may be for its value as a 'pick-me-up' tonic. The hard and wiry wood obtained from its intertwined twiglets was fashioned by the Maori into fish hooks. It was also made into knifes to pierce the skin in treating battle wounds, accidental injuries etc.
